Dedication. Drive. Determination.

 

​     I am a highly motivated and actively inspired personal trainer with more than nine years experience in the fitness industry. My on-going life's mission is to promote healthy living through physical fitness, good nutrition, and personal leadership in active living systems. This mantra stems from a deep-rooted passion to understand and educate, not only myself, but others in all aspects of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.

 

     I began my fitness career with a six year stint in New York City. While living in the Big Apple I spent time as the athletic consultant with Nike Inc. while also teaching numerous boot camp classes and personal training at several prestigious fitness facilities such as the West Side YMCA, The Rock Health and Fitness, Equinox, and New York Sports Club. While residing in the city I found that my passion for health and fitness extended into the endurance realm of training and quickly fell in love with running. Thanks in part to joining and helping to lead the West Side Y Road Runners and Nike Track Club I have fallen in love with endurance sports. Between 2005 and 2010 I completed over 50+ running races in the NYRR circuit as well as completed my first marathon in 2009 (Philadelphia Marathon in 3:56:22), recorded a personal best in the half-marathon (Shamrock Half-Marathon in 1:45:23), and participated in the Reach the Beach 24-Hr Relay with the WSYRR’s club in New Hampshire.

 

     Being a native of native of Western Branch I returned back to the Hampton Roads area in October of 2010 with the goal of bringing back my passion for health and wellness by educating the Tidewater region about the benefits of living a healthy and more active lifestyle. Since my return three years ago I qualified for the Boston Marathon with a PR and qualifying marathon time of 3:31:07 at the Philadelphia Marathon in 2010 and went on to run several more half-marathons (13+ total in career), placed 3rd in the F20-24 Age Division at the 2010 Blue Moon Wicked 10K (41:11), and ran my first New York City Marathon in 2014.

 

     I moved my focus to tackling the realm of triathlons in 2012 to off-set my running career. In the 2014 season I recorded 4 sprint finishes and 1 international distance finish in the Virginia/Maryland Triathlon Series (placing top 5 in all and placing 3rd at the Jamestown Internation and 1st at the Patriots Sprint). By the end of 2014  I was ranked 2nd Female in the 25-29 Age Group Rankings in the Virginia/Maryland Triathlon series and recorded my first half-ironman distance at the Rev3 Williamsburg 70.3. With my continual success at area races, my schedule for the 2015 season will sure to be a competitive endeavour racing under Coach Dai Roberts of Final Kick Sports and with the Challenge Family Factory Team. My focus for 2015 will be marked with an attempt to qualify for Team USA at the USAT Age Group Nationals in August 2015 and training for my first Ironman distance at IM Louisville in October 2015.

 

 

Specializations: weight-loss management, sports specificity training through athletic conditioning, and cardiovascular conditioning through functional training​   

 

Certifications: CPR certified via American Heart Association, certified NASM personal trainer, certified AFAA Personal Trainer, YMCA Trainer certified, DotFit certified
